The Barbados Turf Club has a 10 race card scheduled for Monday, 26 December (Boxing Day), with three very lucrative feature races,including the Victor Chandler Stakes & Trophy, and the Diamonds International/Montblanc Challenge Series Stakes & Trophy.
At a press conference held at the Incitatus Members Lounge, the Grandstand, Garrison on Tuesday, Barbados Turf Club (BTC) Director, Luther Miller 111 JP, thanked Diamonds International/ Mont Blanc for their continued sponsorship of their series of races.
The BTC Director, also took the opportunity to thank Mr & Mrs Michael Tabour for their continued and generous contribution of $50,000 and a Trophy to the Victor Chandler Stakes & Trophy.
The first of the three feature races to be run, is the Boxing Day International Trophy (Condition Race) for 2-year-olds, going1570 meters,carrying a purse of $30,000.
This race has attracted seven United States bred horses. Indian Officer is allotted the top weight of 123 pounds, while A.P. Vincero, Intrepid Dancer and Discreetwon take 116.
This is followed by the Diamonds/International/Montblanc Challenge Series Stakes & Trophy, for West Indian Bred 2-year-olds, going 1570 metres, carrying a purse of $40,000.
A full gate of 12 horses are entered here, including, Something Happenin, Roars, Rickoshey, Dipitinmoney, and Aston Martin. Colts & Geldings take 123 pounds and Fillies 118.
The final feature on the day is the Victor Chandler Stakes & Trophy, for 3-year-olds and over, going 1570 metres, with a purse of $50,000. This one is over subscribed, as 13 horses have taken entry, which means there is one reserve, which is the creole Istanbul.
Seven horses will take the top weight of 128 pounds, and they are Zoom, Bipin, Show Me The Money, Bird Watch, John Brian, Mingun Temple, and Charge It. (CH)
