The Gay Smith-owned Zoom, who won the Sandy Lane Barbados Gold Cup earlier this year, is looking to repeat that performance on Boxing Day in the feature Victor Chandler Stakes & Trophy for three-year-olds and over, going 1 570 metres. John Brian, Daga and Fusaichi Ridge could be dangers.
The Diamonds International/ Montblanc Challenge Stakes & Trophy, for West Indian Bred two-year-olds, going 1570 metres, looks like it could end in a very exciting finish.
Aston Martin, a winner over 1 100 metres, was beaten last time out over 1 570 metres by Dipitinmoney and Roars. However, if held up and brought with a run, he is very capable of
winning. His dangers could be Dipitinmoney, Roars and Something Happenin.
The supporting feature on the card is the Boxing Day International Trophy (Condition Race) for two-year-olds with preference given to non-West Indian bred, going 1 570 metres.
This could be a straight battle between Indian Officer and Discreetwon.
One of the features of the day is the battle for the 2011 Jockey Title. Anderson Trotman and Jalon Samuel, two of the best jockeys riding at the Garrison, are now locked on 31 wins each, with Trotman holding the edge with 25 seconds to Samuel’s 17.
Last year Samuel won the title and will be out to do the same this year, while Trotman will be doing his best to wrestle it for him. Post time for the first race is 12 p.m. (CH)
