The object of the Pick 6 is to select the first place finisher in each of six (6) races

on the same racing program designated by the Association (Keeneland) with the approval of the Kentucky State Racing Commission

  1. The Pick 6 pari-mutuel pool is not a parlay and has no connection with, or is in any way related to any other pari-mutuel pool conducted by the Association, nor to the rules governing any other such pools.
  2. The Pick 6 pari-mutuel pool consists of amounts contributed for a win only selection in each of six (6) races designated by the Association.  Each person purchasing a Pick 6 ticket shall designate the winning horse in each of six (6) designated races comprising the Pick 6 on the same ticket issued prior to the start of the first designated Pick 6 race.  A valid Pick 6 ticket shall be evidence of a binding contract between the holder of the ticket and the racing association and the said ticket shall constitute an acceptance of the Pick 6 provisions and rules.
  3. Entries/Couplings:  Those horses constituting an entry of coupled horses, or those horses coupled to constitute the mutuel field in a race comprising the Pick 6, shall race as a single wagering interest for the purpose of the Pick 6 pari-mutuel pool calculations and payouts to the public.  However, if any part of either an entry or the field, racing as a single wagering interest is a starter in a race, the entry or the field selection shall remain as the designated selection to win in that race for the Pick 6 calculation and the selection shall not be deemed a scratch.
  4. Surface Change:  In the unlikely event the condition of the turf course warrants a change in racing surface in the second or subsequent legs of the Pick-6 races, and such change was not made known to the public prior to the close of wagering for the Pick-6 pool, the stewards shall declare the changed leg an “All Win” race for Pick-6 wagering purposes only.  An “All Win” race will assign the winner of that race to each valid Pick-6 ticket holder as his or her selection for that race.
  5. Thereafter, the net pool shall be distributed as a single-priced pool to those whose selections finished first in the greatest number of remaining Pick 6 contests for that performance.  Such distribution shall include the portion ordinarily retained for the Pick 6 carryover, but not the carryover from previous performances.
  6. “Scratched horses and nonstarters.  If at any time after wagering has begun on the Pick 6 pool, should an entire betting entry or field be scratched or declared a nonstarter in any Pick 6 race, no further tickets selecting such betting entry or field shall be issued, and wagers upon such betting entry or field, for the purposes of the Pick 6 pool, shall be deemed wagers upon the betting or field (designated horse) upon which the most wagering money has been registered at the track in the win pool at the close of win-pool wagering for such race.
  7. In the event of a money tie, the tied betting entry or field with the lowest program number shall be designated.)  Wagers in the Pick 6 pool upon an entry or field of horses from which a starter or starters may have been scratched will, in the case of such entry or field, be deemed wagers upon the horse or horses remaining in such entry or field.
  8. In case no starter remains representing any betting entry or field, wagers upon such entry or field shall be deemed wagers upon the “designated horse” in the race affected by the scratch.  Should a betting interest be scratched or declared a nonstarter prior to the start of the first leg, the Association may allow patrons the option of selecting an alternate betting interest if the ticket affected by the scratch can be cancelled and re-issued prior to the start of the first race of the Pick 6.
  9.  The Pick 6 pari-mutuel pool shall be calculated as follows:
  10. The net amount of the Pick 6 pari-mutuel pool will be divided into the major share of (75%) and the minor or consolation share of (25%).
  11. The major share of 75% will be distributed among holders of valid Pick 6 tickets, which correctly designate the official winner in each of the six (6) races comprising the Pick 6 after deductions for cancellations, refunds and statutory takeout less breakage.
  12. The minor share of 25% will be distributed as a single-priced pool to those who selected the first-place finisher in the greatest number, but fewer than six (6), of the Pick 6 contests and the remainder shall be added to the carryover.
  13. In addition to the 75% net pool share and any carryovers distributable when a wager correctly selects winners of all six designated races, or five winners and no more than one “all win” leg of a Pick 6 pool, there shall be distributed by the Association from its own funds, upon which such occurrence, any amounts it has advertised that it will add to the total distribution, or any amounts necessary to yield an advertised guaranteed total distribution.
  14. In the event that there is no properly-issued pari-mutuel ticket, which correctly designates the official winner in each of the six (6) races comprising the Pick 6, the major share of 75% shall not be distributed, but shall be carried over to the next racing day and be added to the major share for distribution among holders of Pick 6 tickets, which correctly designate the official winner in each of the six races comprising the Pick 6.   The minor share of 25% will be awarded each day the Pick 6 is offered.
  15. The Pick 6 pool shall be cancelled and all Pick 6 wagers for the individual performance be refunded if at least three of the contests included as part of the Pick 6 are cancelled or declared “no contests.”
  16. Carryovers from prior pick-six pools, advertised guaranteed amounts, or advertised added amounts will be distributed to winners in such day’s Pick 6 pools, provided that there are no more than one “all win” event and no other races are cancelled or declared “all wins” in the Pick 6 sequence.  In the event there are more than one “all win” in the Pick 6 sequence of races, any carryovers and/or advertised guaranteed amounts will be removed from that day’s pick six payoffs.
  17. Final Distribution:  The Association shall make a final distribution of all accumulated carryovers together with 75% of the net pool of the Pick 6 pool conducted on the final day of a meet to the holders of wagers selecting the winners of all Pick 6 races, or five winners and no more than one “all win” race contested during such program and 25% of such net pool shall be distributed to the holders of the remaining tickets selecting the most winners.
  18. Should there be no distribution made in accordance with the above paragraph on the last day of the Keeneland race meet, then the entire distributable pool and all monies accumulated therein shall be distributed to the holders of tickets correctly designating the most winning selections of the six races comprising the Pick 6 for that day.
  19. Betting Information:  Unless otherwise ordered by the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission, information concerning combinations wagered upon or not wagered upon in a Pick 6 pool shall not be disclosed by the Tote operator, or otherwise, until the final leg of the Pick 6 wager remains as the only race to be contested for completion of the Pick 6 wager.
  20. Dead Heat:  Each horse in a dead heat for win shall be considered the winner and no allocations among wagers shall be made as a result thereof, unlike the practice in a pari-mutuel win pool.  The payoff price per dollar shall be the same for each class of winning wager.
  21. Non-transferability:  Pick 6 tickets shall be non-transferable and violations of this subdivision may lead to confiscation and cancellation of such tickets in addition to other disciplinary action.
  22. Unforeseen Circumstances:  Should circumstances occur which are not foreseen in this section, questions arising thereby shall be resolved in accordance with general pari-mutuel practices.  Decisions regarding distribution of Pick 6 pools will be final.
  23. Advertised added monies or minimum distributions shall not apply to intermediate or final distributions, unless a wager correctly selects winners of all six designated races, or five winners and no more than one “all win” leg of the Pick 6 pool.

LATE SCRATCHES – DAILY DOUBLE

Should there be a late scratch in the first leg of the Daily Double, there will be a refund of all wagers involving the scratched horse.  Should there be a late scratch in the second leg of the Daily Double prior to the first leg being run, there will also be a refund.  If the scratch is in the second leg of the Daily Double but after first leg has run, there will be a consolation payout.

LATE SCRATCHES – Pick 3

Pick 3 wagering closes at post time of the first leg of the bet. In the event of a late scratch before the first leg of the Pick 3, the bettor receives a refund. In the event of a late scratch after the running of the first leg of the wager, a consolation payoff is paid to bettors with winners in the other two legs. A change of surface occurring after the close of wagering for a Pick 3 will require said race to be designated as “ALL WIN” for purposes of calculation.

LATE SCRATCHES – Pick 4, Pick 5 and Pick 6

Should there be a late scratch which results in the scratch of the entire betting interest and the affected ticket is not cancelled and reissued prior to stop betting of the first leg of the Pick 4, Pick 5 or Pick 6: 1) where applicable, an alternate runner may have been pre-selected, or 2) tickets which include the scratched betting interest will receive the post time favorite as defined by the Win pool for that leg of the Pick 6, Pick 5 & Pick 4 wagers.  A change of surface occurring after the close of wagering for a Pick 4, Pick 5 or Pick 6 will require said race to be designated as “ALL WIN” for purposes of calculation.  Neither of these are refund situations.

ALSO ELIGIBLES

There may be also-eligibles drawn for the fourteen Breeders’ Cup races.  Should a scratch occur from the main body of Friday or Saturday race (number 1-14) between the post-position draw on Monday, October 31 and final scratch time, 8:00 AM EDT on Friday, November 4 (for Friday’s card) or 8:00 AM EDT on Saturday, November 5 (for Saturday’s card) – one or both of the also-eligible horses may draw into the race.  The also-eligibles would retain their program number of 13 and/or 14, 15, 16 (for 12-horse field races) 15 and/or 16 (for 14-horse fields)

  • All winning tickets with five correct selections will share in 75% of the daily net pool, and 100% of the carryover. When there are no winning tickets with five correct selections, all ticket holders with four correct selections share in 25% of the daily net pool.

Super High Five (SH5)

If there are multiple winning tickets in a race, 75% of the net amount wagered into that pool is paid to the multiple winners, with 25% of the net amount allotted to a carryover. If there are no perfect tickets, 100% of the net amount wagered carries over to the next eligible race.
